Why We Created This Guide
Planning an elopement or a small wedding in Mexico should be exciting—not overwhelming.
When couples begin searching online, they quickly discover hundreds of articles, venues, resorts, and vendors. Unfortunately, much of the information is outdated, written by people who have never organized an event in the Riviera Maya, or created simply to sell a service rather than genuinely help.
That is exactly why we created MxElop.
We are not a travel blog, and we are not a directory that lists anyone willing to pay for advertising. We are a team of local professionals who have been living and working in the Riviera Maya for more than 15 years, organizing intimate weddings and elopements while documenting hundreds of love stories through photography and film.
MxElop was born from our daily experience with real couples.
Every question we receive, every challenge we solve, every venue we discover, and every ceremony we organize has become part of the knowledge we now share through this guide. Our goal is simple: to help couples make informed decisions and avoid the common mistakes that can happen when planning a wedding from thousands of miles away.
Behind MxElop are the same professionals who created ElopementRivieraMaya.com, a local agency specialized in intimate weddings, and PhotostudioAB, an award-winning wedding photography studio based in Playa del Carmen. Together, these projects allow us to offer practical advice based on real experience—not theory.
Because we live here, we personally know the beaches, cenotes, private venues, planners, officiants, florists, musicians, photographers, and local vendors we recommend. We visit locations, follow seasonal changes, understand local regulations, and stay up to date with everything that can affect your wedding experience.
This guide is completely free because we believe every couple deserves honest information before making one of the most important decisions of their lives.

To choose the best vendor for our elopement, we recommend the 4-values rule. 1) Presence in the market for at least 5 years 2) Only buy what the vendor has published 3) Contact multiple vendors to compare prices and services 4) Always ask for a signed contract and a digital payment method.
